Who here is running a lift off hood on your street car? I have a Harwood fiberglass lift off hood. One thing Im worried about is one day I may encounter a mechanical problem on the road by myself, if I have to take it off where would I put it without scratching it or taking it off with out scratching it for that matter, then I have to put it down, say a strong breeze comes by and blows it over :( I probably should have bought the bolt on hood first but me trying to save money went with the lift off I didnt think of these situations until after I bought it graemlins/angry.gif graemlins/clonk.gif Whats a guy to do....

I have a lift off hood on my 67. I take it off by myself at the garage and at shows some times when there is no one near me to help. I just stand in the middle of the front and lift the front enough to get one hand on one side then lift the front with the other hand and slide that hand to the other side then reach back on the sides and lift the back up off the pins. let the front rest against your stomach. try to get your hands back past 1/2 way on the sides that way the weight is more towards the front of the hood and easier to lift the back.

I keep a polar fleece blanket in the trunk and place it on the roof then I just lay the hood on top, of course if its extremely windy its probably not a good idea. I am able to lift it myself when I have to but of course its easier with 2 people

I glued 4 pieces of closed cell foam (one on each corner)to the underside of the hood and can set it on the roof when I take it off.I lift from one side and slide it across the roof on the foam.

That foam idea sounds cool. I have a 4" harwood myself. Ive yet to have to take it off while out, but if I had to add oil or anything I take out all the pins and I can still lift just the front like a normal hood. If you have a piece of wood, or a handle from a broom, anything like that. You can probably open it like normal and prop it up. It works great for me. That with this foam idea and a blanket, should be flawless :D
