: Decoding Paper Protecto Plate
Luis Apr 25th, 06, 9:21 PM I don't have the metal P-O-P, instead the P-O-P was swiped on a work request when the Chevelle went in for "defrost fan not working" on 10/04/72.
The numbers I need decoded are:
CCW1210K
CF11069 1133
The P-O-P was swiped 7 times according to the documentation I have.
Remember when:
1/4 panel $103.25, Molding $8.60 and $7.90, bulb .22,
Labor body shop $315.00, Parts body shop $120.00, Paint material $35.11.
Thanks

CCW1210K= axle code, 3.31:1 ratio, no posi, built Dec 10th, K=McKinnon industries(Canada's gear and engine plant)
CF11069= transmission code, CF= turbo 400with 396/350; and a date code
1133= option codes, most likely Power disc brakes, power steering, am or am/fm radio, and possibly A/C??
DaleM Apr 25th, 06, 10:25 PM CCW is a 3.31
Option codes 1133 are dependant upon position. If they are in order with no spaces and start directly under the rear axle codes first character they are:
1 - Power steering
1 - Power brakes
3 - Radio
3 - Disc Brakes
See http://www.chevellestuff.com/tech/69-71_pop_decoding.htm to verify.
Luis Apr 26th, 06, 8:34 PM Thank you. The Chevelle does have power steering, power brakes, AM radio, disk brakes, but no a/c. This is also way to document your Chevelle with a work order that has the P-O-P swiped. I had this for six years and never thought that it was the P-O-P until Al G. told me, (thanks Al). The P-O-P is the only item missing to complete the perfect documentation. Don't know if it can be called perfectly documented Chevelle with 7 paper P-O-Ps.
As for the dealers there was no consistency when they swiped the P-O-P. Sometimes they just wrote the the owners name.
For those who have never seen the documentation on my Chevelle it includes:
Retail Order for a Motor Vehicle, Invoice, original Window Sticker, 3 Line Tags (the equivalent of 3 US build Sheets), GM of Canada Documentation, 7 paper P-O-Ps.
In addition to these documents the mileage has been documented from 5.1 miles until today using a log book to register every gas fill up. To include date, amount of gas, price per gallon, location of gas station, and repairs made. All repair receipts from May 1, 1970 until today, receipts for paying it cash, receipt for paying taxes to the state of MA, and original Owners Manual. BTW, MASS was a non title state in 1970. Don't know if there is another Chevelle out there as documented as this one.
Again, thanks
DaleM Apr 27th, 06, 11:43 AM Wow. I kept gas/oil/repair info on my 67 for about 14 years of the 17 I had it but to do it for over 35 years is dedication.
Luis Apr 27th, 06, 8:02 PM Dale, first of all thank you for the info. I appreciate it. The lady traded in a 67 and she was given $900.00 for the 67. She also had the mileage documented in a spreadsheet. She was kind enough to send me the Owners Book to Iatly when we were sationed there. I might be attending CB07 with the car or without. I might bring the documentation for you to see if you are there. It's like reading a history book on cars.
have a great day!!!
