I'm in the process of getting my 71 painted and was wondering who makes the best weather stripping seals as far as fit and original looking that any of you have used.
Also going to put S.S. stripes on and curios as to who makes a correct stencil kit?

Thanks Bret....

As far as the weatherstripping goes, I'd go with Soffseal. I don't know about the stripe stencil kit though.

I have used the stencil kits from a few different places, the kit from Year One is by far the best and most complete. Some of the others dont come with enough tape. The Year One kit has the tape that keeps the stripes evenly spaced all the way down.

I prefer Metro weatherstrip products. I've seen them and Soff Seal side by side on the same car and the Metro was a visibly better product. Firmer rubber, better fit.

I've found a phone order source for these out of colorado - Auto and Truck Specialty. I can't find their # right now. Year One may be selling Metro.

I've used Soff Seal before and it wasn't bad, but I've chosen Metro this time around.

I used SoffSeal throughout when I restored my convertible. After getting it done I had to practically slam my doors to get them to close. The passenger side also wanted to stick to the quarter panel and eventually tore. I replaced that side with Metro and it worked much better. I'm going with Metro on my current 72 project.

ps I had the sticking problem with SoffSeal too - but thought maybe it was my paint. Guess it wasn't

For the stencil kit, try www.stencilsandstripes.com (http://www.stencilsandstripes.com) it may be the same thing the YO sells, I don't know.

Thanks for the info. I do have a Year One catalog, so i'll call them to see who their manufacturers are.
One other thing is how hard would it be to lay the stencil kit on an aftermarket cowl hood (6in).From the stencil and stripes web site it looks like the lower section (front of hood) is seperate from the actual stripes part (that run up the hood). so it doesnt seem that it would be too hard.
Thank again for the info. Bret...
