Looking to make my own gaskets for some exterior trim pieces. I've looked everywhere I know to but cannot find sheets or small segments of about 1/8" rubber.

Previously I used that gasket in a can stuff. Put some on wax paper and rolled it out with a rolling pin. Let it dry. Then cut pieces. It seemed to work ok but after 2 years, I think the pieces shrank and lost their 'body' to hold the shape.

So I am back to searching for sheets of rubber.

You do know that you can get the whole gasket set for pretty cheap right? www.SS396.com (http://www.SS396.com)

Yes, but I am really looking for sheets if available (to use on other cars as well).

Try Metro Moulded Rubber Parts. I bought some sheet from them for upper control arm splash shields about 13 years ago.

I checked metro's catalog and they have 1/8" in varioyus sizes: 2"x3ft.; 5"x7"; and others. "High quality tough black rubber for many uses in auto restoration. "...resists gas and oil but is not gas or oil prooof. Do not use in fule or oil pumps" . Toll free 1-800-878-2237. Good luck.

A local hardware store probably has "pond liner" for sale. It's very similar and you can buy it by the sq. ft. also.
