: How to remove a broken body mount bolt ??

When removing the body two mount bolts two sheared off. They are the ones under the doors. I can’t understand why the left and right under door bolts failed when every other one came out find. Now I have to remove the nut and what’s left of the bolt from the body.

I’m currently soaking the nuts with penetrating oil and will try an easyout this weekend. If that plan doesn’t work and I don’t hold out much hope that it will. What is the best way to remove the nuts that would cause the least amount of damage?

Also, all of my mount areas look solid. Is there something I should do before assembly that would help prevent future corrosion?

The only way I know to get the broken half out is to cut a hole in the floor to access the cage nut. Leave it open until the body is bolted back on and then weld a patch over the hole you cut. As for corrosion, many people swear by the POR 15 products, so putting that on the underside of the body and then painting seems like a good option.

Thanks for the input. That’s what I though had to be done because I couldn’t see any other option.

I’d like to make as small a cut as possible. Do you know how large I need to go? I would assume that a 1.5-inch diameter hole should provide the needed clearance.

There is morethen one way to skin the access CAT.
Dave's Hole is one way.about 1 shud do the trick. then use a long 1/4 in bolt in the pilot hole to hold it and re weld it back in , after you re-atach the body. OR I like the tin can approach. Where you use your wizzer and cut a flap over the broken body/cage nut. Then pry it open like a sardine can to gain access to the problem weld in new cage nut 9 you can ge them at
( Ground UP ) and bang the flap down and BUZZ it closed. My-be not the right way just another way.
