Hey, congrats, Don!

I'm sure the 'velle loves all that dry air!

No Mike, not looking forward to summer, but they say if we make it thru the first summer, we'll be fine. I'm just glad to be here and looking forward to our future here.

Mark, the Chevelle's still in my son's garage, where it's been since October. As soon as I can get my garage cleared out (read; Find a place for everything) she'll be comin' home. The cool thing is that I've got the Hidden Valley boneyard nearby and they're building a Sonic's in town. Most car guys I've met so far are into Mopar's, but it'll still be nice for cruises on those cold winter nights. ;)

Where is Maricopa? I live in central Phoenix and have been here all my life (18 years) never got used to the summers and never heard of Maricopa. I know where all the Chevy guys hang out and where all the best car shows and drag strips are. Maybe I can hook you up. :)

We're about 20 miles south of Phoenix, in Pinal County, just north of Casa Grande. We're surrounded by the Ak-Chin and Gila River Indian reservations. (Circling the wagons comes to mind) Got 3 casinos, Firebird Raceway and Hidden Valley Auto within 15 minutes of the house. (Could it get any better?) Volkswagen proving grounds are about 2 minutes west of me. It just became a city in 2003, and it's booming...they say 3 people are moving here per hour!

I hear they have a nice jail there as well! :D

Hey Don welcome to the "dry heat" :) I live about an hour down the road from you in Marana (just north of Tucson).

I hear Hidden Valley is high priced, but maybe being a local now you can get some good deals. Living close to the drag strip would be great, our local tack is close to 50 miles from home.

You're thinking of Maricopa County, cmt...that is a phenominal jail system. But I'm in a town named Maricopa in Pinal County. (It confuses a lot of people)

Phil, I haven't been to Hidden Valley yet, but from what I heard you're right. Being near Firebird is pretty cool. Besides the drag strip, the Bondurant school runs there, there's a circle track, a road course and a lake for boat racing. This past weekend, it looked like they had SCCA on Sat and bikes on Sunday. Some of the big guys like John Force do their testing there in early spring too. I gotta get over there and get a schedule of events.

Firebird is a great place. Last month I was in Chandler picking up some steel. I stopped on the side of the interstate next to Firebird to check tie downs on the trailer and wound up sitting there for 30 minutes watching some classics running on the road race course. There was a 66 BB vette hauling butt and a 67 Mustang right on its tail. From out of no where this little 4 banger open wheel car, looked to be circa 50's, catches up and passes the vette. It couldn't keep up on the straight stretches, but was awesome on the corners. I was on a deadline but I couldn't help myself, I watched them go around for a few laps before heading home.
