Is there a way the cigarette lighter could be used as a kill switch?
Since I will never use it...seems like a good option?

I used to have a hidden switch for the elec fuel pump, I guess you could wire it to the lighter. I've seen one where the wiper switch was used. You might have to get a little creative

I had a friend who did exactly that, used the cigg lighter for a kill switch. I don't know how it worked though. I do know he blew holes in the mufflers out on the highway when he mistakenly pulled the lighter out and then stuck it back in.

Just run a wire from the lighter to the negative side of the coil.
Pushing the lighter in grounds out the coil - no spark.

Just a clarification, cut the power wire to the cig lighter and cap it. Run a wire from the lighter to the negative side of the coil.

If you are creative you can use the cigarette lighter or other things in plain sight as a kill switch depending on what you want to kill (ignition, starter, electric fuel pump ect...)

If the car in question is a 69 or later, add one of these (http://www.lok-itt.com/howItWorks.htm) to prevent the car from being broken into to begin with. If the car looks like a easy target and even if it is not stolen, theives can do a lot of damage.

Thanks Greg, I never even thought about someone not knowing better than to leave the hot wire connected to the lighter also. :o
