Im putting my 1972 chevelles' 307 back together and Im confused what bolts go where. I have 5 long bolts and 6 short bolts and a bolt with threads on both sides. I know the 4 corners get the longer bolts but not sure where the 5th long bolt goes or where the double sided bolt goes.

I think the double sided one is also a mounting point for your upper alternator bracket - at least it is on a big-block.

I can probably look back at some pics ive taken for the mounting bolt but mainly need to know where the other long bolt goes so i dont have to take it out later

On my 72 350 the double sided bolt goes on the passenger side of the thermostat housing and is the rearmost attaching point for the alternator bracket.
