I got my engine and tranny on the frame today and when I went to put the drive shaft on it is too long like 1 inch too long. I guess I picked up the wrong driveshaft or something The tranny is a th400 but what engine and tranny combo would use a longer driveshaft? oh btw the rear suspension is maxxed out, so would that cause it to be way too long like it is?

WHATS THE DRIVE SHAFT LENGTH? From center of U-joint to center of U-joint

When I went to check the linkages for the column shift I couldnt get them to line of either. Its like the engine and tranny is too far back for the linkage and drive shaft. Did they make different column shift linkages for different engine and tranny combos too?

Any one have a pic of what the linkages look like and how they connect together cause I might even have bought the wrong piece that bolts to the tranny?

Sorry about the pic, it's impossible to get a good show without jacking up the car:

thanks thats the same bracket I got. Do you or anyone else have a pic of how it all goes together? I think it will work if I can figure out how it all goes. I looked at it more and it looks like everthing will work, except for the drive shaft still dont know why its not fitting?

Whats the driveshaft length for a BB/th400/12bolt, from center of Ujoint to the center of the other UJoint?

I just measured my driveshaft that I have and its ~ 55 1/2 CTC what would this fit? I stuck in my yoke and measured it (the suspension is down fully and yoke all the way in) it was like 54 3/4s - 54 7/8s.

push the yoke all the way in then back it out exactly one inch (u usually do about 3/4", but my driveline guy says one inch..you cant add driveline if you are too short) then jack the rear up under the diff so it is at ride height. then measure from CTC to CTC.

The driveshaft length in question should be 54.5".

thanks bluess454 thats what i wanted

bubba, I dont have a body on, all it is is the frame engine and tranny. So i dont know where ride height is and If i jack up the rear end the frame is just gonna lift, id have to figure out a way to squish the springs or just take em out and jack up the frame.
