My 69 SS currently has a 454 in it, someday I would like to put a 396 back in it and make it as original as possible. The book tells me that the original engine code was JA and JV. So as I start looking for a L35, am I looking for just the JA / JV stamp ? I know this is a block stamp and the heads are a different story unless it's an original motor. What I'm trying to find out is, I know theres nothing like the original but what is the next best thing thats exceptable? thks
