I have a 66ss that I need to put the rivets back into the grille.I have the rivets, but wonder is there a set out there you can buy to install these rivets?

That topic was discussed last year, you might want to do a search for it. I'm having a senior moment(more frequently now) so I can't recall what the answer was.

You can buy the rivets with a nut on them, once in you can't see the nut. That way you can take the grill out any time you want. They work and look fine. Late Great Cheys, are the only one's that I have ever seen sell them.

I have always peened mine[factory style rivets] over as the factory did but the late great rivets do sound like a nice part with much less work, lots of time involed peening over the factory rivets.

Last I checked, Late Great sold sets of correct rivets that came with a peening tool. At least that's what I got when I ordered them 10+ years ago. I still have the little peening tool around here somewhere...

Another way to do it without smashing them is to use a 3/16 push on retainer. They are available anywhere and work excellent.

I bought both kinds from Late Great Chevy's and the type you peen over with the tool I still have in the bag. (and probably always will) I tried to install them but it was a disaster!

The ones that have the nut on the bottom are the best! You won't smash your grill up trying to hammer these in. And you can easily remove your grill in the future if you ever wanted to.

I have found a longer version of these in the specialty hardware drawers at Lowes. Haven't found the small ones anywhere other than LGC yet.

I am very interested in buying the late great rivets with nuts. I tried several browsers and found many sites but not the one that sells these rivets. Can someone help this dummy out?

Thillteamsource, try my previous post answer of 3/11/01. Search grill Rivits or my user name 65Camino. Their phone# and the rivits parts # are there.
