I am replacing the temperature sending unit on my car. Unfortunately someone cut the connection. I have a solid green wire, and a green wire with a white stripe. The temp sending unit has two connections labled R and G. The car has idiot lights and is a '71 malibu. Anyone know which wire goes to which connection? Thanks, Dennis

The R terminal is for the temp warning light. It should get the solid green wire. You can check this by grounding the solid wire with ignition on, the warning light should go on.
