Hi, just installed a 1 wire alternator. My question is... I have an american autowire harness in the car and was wondering if i still need a red wire going from the battery terminal on the starter (it's labeled 12v battery) going to the fuse box wiring... The harness is generic not car specific. So do I need it?
I've got a wire running from the alt. to the battery term. on starter. and then from battery term. to positive on the actual battery? Is this right? I don't want to fry anything, so i want to make sure.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

That's exactly how I have my 1 wire alt wired and no problems. A wire from alt to the big lug on the starter and then the battery cable from the big lug to the battery.

Yr of car??? Is any of the factory wiring left? You should need it. Something has to feed the fusebox or nothing will work.

Yoy can do it that way and it will work. I wouldn't do it that way as it puts another wire at the starter that can possibly be burnt by the headers.

WHY !!!
Those things get to warm and don't work as welll as the SI or CS alt .
One wire alt. are a battery charger and don't monitor the bus voltage for thr actual load you need.
