I am the original owner of a 1967 SS396 Chevelle. It came from the factory with a manual 3 speed transmission with console. My son and I are in the process of restoring the car now. We still have the original big block, rear and transmission. Do not know much about how rare this car might be and would appreciate any feedback from chevelle enthusiasts.

Not to rare, standard transmission for all chevelles was the 3 speed manual, and HD 3 speed for Big Blocks. In fact my 138 67 came factory with an HD 3 speed, now sports a 4 speed. Hope this helps. JN

The h.d. 3-speeds were fairly uncommon when new, but good luck today finding one. I figure that most of the surviving cars have been retrofitted with Muncies by now. I have only heard of 1 other 3-speed floor shift car with the optional console.
Anyway, it sounds like a neat car! BTW, welcome to Team Chevelle.
