I need to freshen the paint up on my 454 and I will be removing the intake and carb, possibly the heads. Any tips on cleaning the block and painting....I do not want to pull the motor!

Just get in there with rags and degreaser, and go to town.... tape off the engine bay and spray away. I know you don't want to, but it would be much easier to yank it. There's gonna be several spots that will be a booger to get to.

I would remove the alternator/brackets,power steering, etc.Maybe even the headerrs or manifolds, but I would not remove the heads.Clean up with with some prep solve, and mask the firewall and crossmember..and remember, cardboard, newspaper and masking tape are your friend

Thanks Chris, I forgot the headers will be replaced too. BTW, any new track times on your car yet?

No,nothing new yet...my track opens in April.
Realistically,I'm expecting somehere in the 12.9X zone consistantly, maybe a tenth quicker with some tuning..with the old 2.56's,the 12.99 was my best..normal runs where in the 13.20-13.30 zone with marginal traction and those gears,so my 12.9 goal seems about right. If it's any quicker will be anyones guess.
