Anyone know if this radio has any vacuum tubes in it? Had the cover partially off of mine, I see several tall "cans" that I think might be covering some tubes.

Secondly, does anyone know how to wire up the connecter in the rear? I've got no connecter, just see the male end with three terminals in the back of the set. I'd like to wire it up and see if it works.

This radio is all transistor - no tubes. The cans you see are IF transformers.

The wiring for the radio is as follows:

Starting from the left side of the radio,

+12 volt power

8 to 10 ohm speaker (+)

Ground/radio chassis - speaker (-)

This is standard on all GM Delco radios that use this plug except Corvette!

The mating 3 prong plug is usually wired to the speaker and a single GM female connector that supplies 12 volts from the fuse panel plugs in on top of the 3 pin speaker plug.

I'm not sure, but I believe at GM the '62 model cars were the ones to usher in the use of all-transistor radios.
