Ive been restoring an SS dash for my 71 Malibu for the past couple weeks and now im at the point of wiring.
Ive gotten a lead on a FULL harness from a 72 malibu.
I thought I heard somewhere on here that a malibu harness can be converted to fit SS gauge pod but I cant seem to find it now.
Any truth to this?
Will the full 72 harness work in my 71?
Any directions on how to actually do this modification?
Thanks!

'72 harness is drastically different from a 70/71. you will need to make a lot of changes(swap wires around) at the bulkhead connector. i have instructions to do that tho. better off finding a 70/71 ss dash harness. if you go with the the 72 harness make sure it is an ss harness.

Well im kinda talking about replacing all the 71 wiring with the 72, I know the bulkhead connectors are different.
If I replace the nessisary components with the 72's shouldnt it just hook right up?
Any instructions on modifying a malibu harness into a SS?

Ok forget the previous posts.
Will a harness out of a 71 monte work?

Yes harness from 71 monte will work just fine. Are you going to have SS idiot lights or gauges. It's not hard to modify the ss style idiot light harness to tach/gauges.
You can modify the malibu harness but you need a donar 12 pin ss style gauge connector with about a foot of wire on each pin and both wiring diagrams. Basically you cut the lights and fuel wires from the malibu harness and splice into the 12 pin gauge connector. You will have a lot of pink (power), black (gnd), and grey (dash light) wires left over in the malibu harness that you just pull back to the crimp junction and cut off.
