Can any one tell me if L34'S came in non ss chevelle's in 1970. I have found a car that has all ss badges the suffix code on engine is CTX and the numbers match the VIN but my books don't tell me if you could order the L34's in non ss chevelle's
I am also confused on where the VIN is supposed to be stamped on the engine. It is in front with the suffix number but a book that I have say's it should be by the oil filter. It was built in Baltimore.
Any help would be appriecated. THANKS.

The L34 was only available with the SS package in 1970. However, you could order ROP LS3, a 330 hp 402, without ordering an SS.

There was a model called the Malibu 400 which came with the 402 BB engine. Search this site, I think a month or two ago there was a thread on this model and some nice pics. I think these are very interesting cars. Does yours have the chrome 400 emblems on the front fenders? I believe these cars are quite rare. If you have one, hang on to it!!!!!!!!

Yes, It was I that created the site honoring the legendary 400 Malibu...

They are beautiful cars, and rare!

Option LS3 was for a 402 cubic inch big block "the 400" available ONLY in the Malibu.

Ironically, I do have a really nice set of "400" emblems off a 70. They were off a set of fenders I had. Wish the car had come with the fenders!
