A year and a half after getting a BTE unit (that had the parking pin installed backwards..), I brought it down to In-Gear in douglas MA at the rec of a fellow TC member. Ross the owner is a great guy and was excellent to work with. I asked him to crack the case on the BTE unit since it had been sitting so long, and he said while it would be a great trans for a mild big block street car, he said he thinks I'd devour it in short order.
Basically redid the whole thing, kevlar, kolene, so on, kept the drums and such though (I'm not exactly an extreme application), but it feels great. Soon as I fix my electrical gremlin and change the master cylinder, can't wait to get an inspection sticker and get back out on the road.
He took it for a test drive and said the car has some serious potential, he was thinking 1.6x or better 60's when I get some real tires. Not sure I want to be driving the beast when it does that :D
A new dyno shop opened up next door to him, after I take care of the little things left, I might swing back down and see what its putting down after fixing the clamped brakes issue and slipping trans.
Had to have the converter cut open, I was thinking just a flush but the old trans was pretty well destroyed inside, and he said cutting it might be the best option, and it was, had a couple broken parts in there.. Which totally bites seeing it was a brand new unit..
And its great that they pushed super chevy NH into june, hopefully I'll have everything in perfect working order and shiny! Ross also said he would be more than happy to get me a guest pass for the central mass drag racing club that races out at lebanon valley NY.
I took it for a 35 second ride up the street after unloading it off the trailer, feels great..
Sorry this was so long, with all the trouble the car has been causing me I'm happy that things are getting back in order with it...
