Many places sell them but they all seem to be the same panel. They suck.Don't waste your time with them.Since this is a common rust out area you would think they could make a decent patch panel for it. graemlins/sad.gif

Bought some from OPG and goodmark. OPG had a sticker on the back made by AMerican designers or American something, anyway they went back to OPG. The goodmarks did seem to look better but they too went back.

Make your own patch if you can fab metal, be alot faster then trying to get those patch panels to fit right, cus it'll never happen...Eric

Both pieces were for a 70.

mine sucked too. but it still put me ahead of the game because the bottom of the fenders were completely gone. but if it just needs a small patch you are better off fabricating it.

The lower fenders on my el Camino were completely trashed from the body line down and were completely cut-out. I purchased the patch panels from OPG. They're manufactured by American Parts Duplicators. The body shop used adhesive to bond the panel to the fender and had to fabricate some L-brackets to accomodate the lower hole on the inner fender. They did take a little persuasion here and there but I think they came out tits. graemlins/thumbsup.gif Not sure if I would have saved any money looking for replacement fenders, my guess is I would have spent more.

I'd buy the OPG panels again. Also, the rear window patch panel was a close enough fit that it didn't take much effort to coax it in there. Welding it in while laying on my back wasn't much fun though.

There is another " PATCH" thread on the list regarding Quality fit ect..
IMO your better off fabing your own and if ALL is rusted off whell lip lowere mounting tab flange and the bottom of the inside brace...

Hunt down a replacement fender...

Bet you a dollar you cant tell my lower fenders have OPG patch panels with fabbed lower wheel well brackets without getting under my car tongue.gif

Its sorta like a chick with a boob job. If they look nice and will hold up to abuse, who cares how they got that way graemlins/waving.gif

graemlins/waving.gif But is your car a 70-72? The 68-69 patches are nice, its the 70-72 patch panels that suck.

I have used the 69 and the 72 patch panels from YearOne and would never buy them again. I have a 36" sheet metal brake now and could fab one in 1/4 the time I spent modifying these to match. I am uncomfortable with the amount of work required and the cheap, thin steel they use. I purchased a 4x8 sheet of 18 gauge steel and use it instead - it was only $20. It is unbelievable that good quality patches aren't yet available.

I think Jerry still asks a legitimate question that is bothering me lately. My car is the same ... I bought 90% rust free. I have dime sized holes, but only the bottoms where they wrap around underneath the car.

I'm having a hard time justifying a whole new fender and whole new quarter for these small of areas. So I bought a lower rear fender patch trying to work around it ... it was so far off that it went in the trash last week!!

Anyhow, some of us are going to have to work with "patch" panels. The Quality never has been there, solely for $$ reasons. Whether there will ever been a market for a "premium" patch panel ... I truely couldn't say. But I know I sure could use some pointers on where the better one's are ... And, some good techniques for getting around their flaws?

P.S. Did I see someone post a rear window corner patch? I've been waiting on that for a while.
