On my 71 Chevelle there is a plastic type piece that is between the front bumper and the grill. It has cracked and I don't seem to see the parts listed in the catalogs. I would figure that anybody who ever bumped something with there bumper cracked these fairly easily.

Where do you get them. I saw something called a Filler Panel listed but there was nothing for 71 or 72. Only for 1970. Is this the part? If not what is it called and where can I find one.

This piece isn't a part of the grill. This piece actually is under the metal front bumper and goes to under the opening to the grill. This softer plastic is between the headlights beneath the metal bumper. It is painted to match the color of the car.

I have to agree with malibu400. I have a 71 and 72 and neither have a separate piece as you described. The only piece there is part of the grill which swoops forward to fill the gap between the grill and bumper. The headlight extensions do the same on each side.

Do you have a pic available to send or post?

I have a 71 ss and that piece is part of the grille. Mine was cracked and had a dime size piece missing. I glued and used body filler to cover the small hole and crack line. After it was painted it looks like new.

on 71 72 cars, there is no bumper filler. that lip is part of the grille. it can fool you if it breaks off clean all the way across but it isnt a seperate piece.

You all are totally right about it being part of the grille. After looking online at pictures of replacement parts I see what you were referring to. Also I went out and looked at my car just to make sure. Learn something new every day!

Thanks MUCH!

It's easy to fix cracks and holes since it's virtually out of sight. I used JB Weld and just sprayed it black...would look better body color but I didnt have the option at the time
