I found this cool little item the other day. Looks like it would be a sweat time saver, or maybe not. Could have used this when I did some work on the frame rack, but now I dont so what would I ever need that for? Still you never know when something like that might come in handy...Eric

Dude we always use tram gauges. I don't know what brand ours are but they costed 700 bucks a piece. We mostly use them to check for square on front ends we have to do pulls on. It is a huge time saver as you can measure by your self without having to use a helper. It's also alot more accurate.
If you don't have a tram gauge already I would scoop that one up even if I know I'll never use it at work.IMO
Be carefull if you bring it to work because everybody will want to borrow it.
They can also help fit certian panels on certian cars to get an awesome gap. Fenders mostly.
Anyway they are good tools. IMO

I believe I will be getting one, the guy has a great idea. I have one that I bought from a body man who made them also. It has a level built into it that allows you to check if the body is twisted, works well. I have used it for a few years as a "regular" tram and it has been a great value for the $250.00 I paid.

I do have to tell you home hobbiests, these "tram" guages are VERY useful. It allows you to measure across an area where a straight tape couldn't go because of obstructions. It is a very, very useful tool.

Just let me know when you are gonna buy and Ill run ya up :D ...Eric

Ive seen some other trick tools that this guy has made and listed on ebay. Its been awhile since Ive seen them, but you might even ask what else he has to offer, Iam. Just stuff that you stop and think why didnt I think of that and now I GOT TO HAVE

I'm sure that would come in handy when doing bodywork, BUT WHY DO THOSE GUYS HAVE TO WRITE EVERYTHING IN CAPS? And if you don't think it works, remember that the Thompson machine gun was turned down by the government :D

I had one of my friends (professional body guy with specialty in frames) come check that replacement frame of mine out, and he brought something identical to that; had the thing checked and verified in about 5-10 minutes.

About the only thing slicker could be laser sights on the thing!

Yeah, writing in all caps sucks to try and read, plus the guy doesn't seem fond of punctuation.... :D

Eric, have you been to the DentFix web site (http://dentfix.com/) ? They are the distributors for the Spitznagel. I have a catalog in front of me with their new door skin tool, pretty interesting. It uses an air hammer as a planishing hammer and "dies" to fold the lip. I couldn't find it on site but maybe you would have better luck.

MArtin, I havent yet been to that site. I should since my old stud gun was a spitzngel. Ill check out that door skin tool also. I do have such a thing similiar or maybe not, havent seen this one yet, but anyway it too used an air hammer. But the darn thing left behind hammer marks, no matter what psi it was used at. The only time I use it is when the car has cladings that cover the bottom of the skin, like the grand am GT and some caddies. But Ill check out that this toy "errr" tool smile.gif

Thanks for the info on the site...Eric

Martin, just looked on that site. Saw the door skin tool you were talking about...WOW very sweet. Nothing like what I have now. For the price of that thing(690) it should install the skin and even paint it while I sit back and drink a cold beverage smile.gif Sounds and looks like a very very cool handy tool, if I didnt need about 3 other things right now Id definitly get one. Let me know how it works out if you do get Martin, Id appreciate that

They do have some great stuff and ill have to get one of their catalogs for sure. The spot weld drill was cheaper(481) then what I thought it would be,so instead of a thousand dollar am now down to 800 :(
