My 65 Chevelle had been sitting for the past 5 years. When I parked it, all lights and horn worked. While it was sitting, I installed a new forward lamp harness and a new engine harness.

When I turn the lights half way on, the park lights, dash lights and tail lights come on. When I pull the light switch the rest of the way out, the park lights go off. I do not know if it makes a difference, but the passenger side park light is missing. It was damaged when I removed the front bumper.

What areas should I check to get the lights working? Thanks in advance.

I don't think the 65 chevelles do this but Corvette's in 65 the park light's go out in the front when the headlights are on.I will have to check my wiring books on the 65 and post back.

Wes,
the headlights, high and low beam, go thru the dimmer switch.
make sure that connection is secure.

I had this problem last night..turned out to be a loose connection on the high beam/dimmer switch on the floor.

Yeah, I've seen a dimmer switch hang up between high and low positions and the headlights would go completely off.

Thanks everybody for the suggestion. I will check after work tonight and post back. It would be nice if it was that simple.

Thanks again,

Wes

I bet there is a problem in the new wiring somewhere.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. I replaced the dimmer switch and the problem was solved. Kind of a surprise considering it was new at the time I parked the car.
