I was curious to know how hard it would be to install new drip rail moldings. I want to install them on my 72 that has a vinyl top, but im not sure how they secure to the body. Im replacing the current ones becuase they are dented and distorted like someone secured them on using a hammer. I really hope there is a better way to get them on without messing them up?
Thanks... graemlins/clonk.gif

They are actually very easy to install. Almost as easy as it is to mess them up. I've never used any special tool to remove or install, except for the corner pieces... it takes a small screwdriver to gently pry the tabs that hold those items in place. As for the drip rail moldings, just use your fingers and carefully pry them up from the bottom, working your way down the length of the molding. Work patiently and carefully and you should have no problem. Gloves may help, but I don't use them. Instllation is basically a reverse procedure. Again, and abundance of patience and care will yeild unmarred drip rail moldings.
Good luck...

Yes reinstalling them is simple. line them up, hang them over the top edge, start at one end and press them down ouver the bottom of the channel with your hands. It takes a little horse power sometimes and I've gently persauded a couple with a rubber hammer. The key word be "gently"

Chevelle God, The easy way to get the old ones off is with an old style can opener . put some tape around the pointed pry point that perces the can also put tape on the hook that goes under the lip and GENTLY lift them off it works. When installing the new ones line them up and pop them on with the palm of your hand . Good luck Ralph

I just had mine replaced, have to say that I watched my buddy and believe it or not he used a old bottle opener to get the old ones off, ( no problems, didn't dent them or bend them ) and just was real carful putting the new ones on. they were NOS, so they fit pretty nice.

I would be sure not to damage your original moldings because the repos I bought for my 67 were aliminum and real cheesy. I think if I went over 100 mph they would blow off!
