I think I have the name for this right. There is a rubber seal that follows the top of the door opening. Top of windows seal to this rubber. I removed the channel for this rubber for painting. My question is what sealant do I put on before I reinstall this channel. The material that was in there almost looks like the putty material used on things like camper or holiday trailer windows. It usually comes in rolls with a paper backing and you can get in various thicknesses. Is this the right material to use?

Jerry. The retainer is screwed against the channel. I could not find the tape and used 3M 08509. This is a non hardening caulking meant to seal windows. It allows you to adjust the retainer when needed afterwards.
