Here is my set-up and car purpose:
Stock 402 bottom end, with additional unshrouding of exhaust valves on the cylinders. Using Speed Pro TRW-L2242's with a .335 dome for hopefully 9.5/1.
Heads- 820 w/ mild port and bowl work. Considering punching intakes out from 2.065 to 2.19 and leaving the exhaust at 1.72 due to shrouding. Going with undercut performance valves. Harland Sharp roller rockers.
Intake- Performer 2161 large oval port dual plane
Carb- Modified '70 Quadrajet
Headers- 1 3/4 prim./ 2.5 dual exhaust
Tranny- Stock M20 4/sp
Rear- 3.31 12 bolt Posi w/ 14" SS wheels
This car will be primarily cruised and road tripped. It will never see the strip or the other side of 6K for that matter, but I still want it to run. Based on that, I 've chose compenents for a Idle-5K power curve. I've tried to research as much as I could, but still can't seem to decide. Some have suggested a longer duration, but that seems to move the power curve too far up the RPM scale for me (at least I think) and may make it harder to manage at cruise. Others have suggested a longer duration on the exhaust side to compensate for the smaller exhaust valve, and that makes sense. Here is what I've narrowed it down too. Your comments are greatly appreciated.
