: Brakes pull to the right

When I apply the brakes on my Chevelle it pulls to the right. The harder I push the harder they pull. I stored the car over the winter. The brakes were fine last fall.

The rotors look good.
The pads look good.
Do I have air in the lines?
Any other ideas?

It would make a great circle track car....if I went around the track backwards/clockwise:clonk:

Sometimes a caliper can stick. If it has been sitting for awhile this is a good possibility. The piston will move out when the brakes are applied but is not releasing. Another possibility, and I had this happen one time, is that the rubber brake line to the caliper can collapse and cause a restriction not releasing the piston as well. Check the slides that the caliper sits on as well. If it is rusted from sitting, the caliper cannot move freely. Those are just a few things to check out.

I found the problem. The back bracket on the right lower control arm broke where it hooks to the frame. The bolt to the lower control arm is still holding the lower control arm to the bracket, but the bracket is just hanging in mid-air.

I was just kidding when I said it would make a good circle track car. I wasn't really driving it in circles at a high rate of speed. It's not a big deal to make a temporary fix...my dad's been welding this and other parts on to new frames for 30 years at GM. But, to fix it right I'll be spending a few days doing a total frame switch.

Anybody live close to Michigan with a 68-72 frame with front disc brakes from a chevelle, cutlass, or skylark? Send me a personal email, if you want to sell it.

Bummed out and in park!!!:(

I think that welding your bracket back on would be a better solution. Frame changes are a lot of work and you will end up with a car whose VIN on the frame will not match the title or the body, which can be a problem.
