markcord Dec 20th, 02, 2:10 PM In the interest of stirring the pot, has anyone ever asked Goodmark themselves about where their sheetmetal is manufactured? I only bring this up because everyone swears by Goodmark and that's fine. But in my Goodmark catalog they call themselves "distributers" which to me lends further credence to something that Roger Ausley told me. That is that all the repro sheetmetal out there all comes from Taiwan. Sure some are probably better than others but I get the distinct feeling that people believe that Goodmark sheetmetal is made here in the States so they feel more inclined to purchase from them. I don't think that's the case though. I hope I'm wrong and perhaps someone can shed more light on the subject. It may just boil down to Goodmark having tougher quality control. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/confused.gif

ToocoolZ28 Dec 20th, 02, 9:15 PM The 1/4s that I bought from Ausleys were made in Michigan. I believe it was Central Stamping?
Great quality.

70velle_basketcase Dec 21st, 02, 6:19 PM All of the Goodmark stuff is from Taiwan. This even includes the GM licensed stuff, quarters ect... I purchase my stuff directly and pick it up at their building in Lawrenceville, GA. It all comes in on rail container, and is unloaded there. This shouldnt discourage anyone, they have really good stuff, it is just made by slant eyes. I did think their full trunk pan is a little thin, I would recommend the 3 piece, but as much metal as I have bought from them, it cant all be perfect.
GaryA Dec 21st, 02, 9:15 PM So basicly it don't matter where you buy em from? they all come from the same place, so just go with the best price. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

sevt_chevelle Dec 21st, 02, 10:36 PM Gary,
Its not all made in the SAME place. It might be all made overseas, but doesnt not all come from the same stamp! Ive personally seen differences in the quailty of parts from diff retailers. I know that Goodmark is not the only company making or selling fenders. Ive tried fenders from two diff companies, goodmarks been great, the others paper weight. This other company is under the name of Dyacorn. Goodmark just came out with full 66-67 quarters, dyacorn has had them on the market for two years now, seen held them, laughed at them!
As big as this restoration business is nobody can tell me that there is ONLY one company out here making parts for these cars. I work at a production shop and KNOW that here are multiply companies making aftermarket metal, headlamps, wheels etc for late model cars. Its a big world out there for only company...Eric
