I have a 1970 Malibu with oval bushings in the lower control arms. I have already pressed out old the ball joints and have new ball joints that came with the car. The old ball joints measure 1.997" and the new ones are 2.012" diameter. The holes in the control arms measure 1.991". I measured a new set at NAPA and they are also 2.012". This seems like a big stretch to press the new joints in. Is this normal or am I being too fussy?

The
normal lower ball joint diameter is 2.010". Yes, you are being fussy; .020" is not a huge interference fit.

The ball joints went right in. Thanks for the help.
