Stupid question?
Im about to fill up my car for the first time and I thought I check with you first. I should fill it with 98 octane fuel, right? Its a 350.

wow:confused: ,
What's the Compression?, How exactly is this motor built?
need some more info on your 350 first before answering your question.

Newbie. Dont really know how its build. It has a edelbrock "high prformance" intake and a edelbrock 4 carburator. Would it hurt the engine if I use 98 or whats the standard octane rating?

If you are using higher octane than your engine needs you're wasting money. Try some premium and if it doesn't ping you're fine, next time you can try the plus grade. Unless you are running 11:1 compression with radically advanced timing 98 octane isn't necessary.

premium? Is it like 96 or what? We dont have premium in Sweden. And we dont have any leaded fuels here, just lead "replacement". Should I use that?

You can drive on regular gasoline-unless you have some killer compression?
My 72 Chevelle runs on regular-I rebuilt the engine and had hard seats installed when they got rid of lead. The GOV. is adding ethanol to the gas now and be aware that problems can occur. Change the car fuel lines to boat fuel lines-Boats have rubber lines that don't have problems with the alcohol fuel.
Other concerns are the metal fuel tanks that could be attacked.Farmers are happy.

Im thinking maybe they calculate their octane ratings differently Mtume, there should be a formula on the pump but I dont think ya can lose with the premium grade in any case!

I think he just wants to drive the car today. Run the 98 octane. Correct me if I'm wrong guys but almost whatever the gasoline/meth/eth mix ,start at the high side and work down. He has to post exactly what the fuel content is asap and valve seats etc,,, I'd try it no damage I know of.

Heck I've got a 330 hp 350 I just installed, and I run regular old 87 in it. runs fine. Try the cheap stuff first, if it pings, go up.

You should ONLY run the 98 and you should add the "blyersättning" ("lead replacement") if you don't have the right valve seats......(hardened)
