I am looking if there is a car or pickup that has a power steering sector that is small enough for our lawn tractor. I would like to change the steering on the lawn tractor to power steering. It would have to be about 1/2 the size of our chevelle steering sector. All I can think of small cars having rack and pinion, but I need a steering box.

I have thought of a slave cylinder type, but for now maybe the steering box.
Or any ideas some one may have.

That's an odd project....hopefully you can make something work. :)
I know that some smaller JD tractors (20 or so hp diesel, 4wd) use power steering. I don't know if they use a gear, or a cylinder though. Might be worth checking out.

I'll look. I have looked at some smaller??? but not 20 HP.
Honda make a pump that is 4" square and has a side oil canister reserve. So I think I got the pump. Now tring to find sector for now.

If you can still find them a Corvair or Vega steering box should work, Speedway still sells the Vega box but I dont believe you want to spend that kind of money.

Ingersoll garden tractors had a power steering option on their tractors at one time but I dont remeber how they worked.
get one of those spinner knobs that you bolt onto the steering wheel :)

I have Vega steering in my '33. Don't ever recall seeing a Vega with PS though.

My JD F912 has power steering, but it is done off of the hydro drive ... with a cylinder steering, and a valve on the steering wheel.
