I recently bought a Ertl Collectibles 1:18 scale '70 Chevelle SS 396 (black/black). Upon receiving it, I realized the company made one major mistake...it has 454 decals on side and engine. Just curious to see if anyone else had ordered one of these and experienced the same problem. This is also a little strange b/c (to my knowledge) Ertl hasn't made another SS 454 diecast.

I have 4 of these 1=70 Orange w/White Stripes, 1=71 Blackw/No Stripes,and 2=72s 1 Convertible Red w/White Stripes, 1 Daytona Orange w/ Black Stripes. Aii of them have 454 on the side, The engine, and the plates. They are the only 70s 1/8 Die cast i could find. i guess they made them all the same to save a couple of $$$

Almost ALL the '70 Chevelles Ertl has made (they first were issued in 1992!) have been SS454 models. They have only issued a few SS396 models and on this most recent one they got the details wrong.

I have a Shadow Grey with black stripes model they produced in very limited numbers some years ago that is brand new in the box. If you'd be interested in it, send me an e-mail or a PM. This car has all the correct 396 markings on the fenders and air cleaner.

No thanks, I'm happy with the black,black white stripes 454. Personally, I would rather have this one over the 396 that I thought I was getting. It's just something to keep in a box and put on a shelf.

Could have been worse. I bought a cheap -68 396 SS diecast for my son. It looked alright (didn't expect much for $10), but upon closer examination I saw that it had the same left hand emblem/side marker light bezel on both sides. I'm surprised they didn't put it on the tail panel and the air cleaner as well. :D

I've got one of the first red/black SS454 ones I would be willing to part with. PM me if interested.

I know the Camaros Ertl made for the American Muscle series were also either mis decal'ed or mis boxed. I have a SS396 in a Z28 box.
