My 1968 chevy impala had an aftermarket radio in it with a digital clock on it. I replaced the radio with an original one and connected the power line that went to the aftermarket radios digital clock to the in dash clock and it spun way too fast! So then I tried running a wire from the clock line on the fuse box to the clock and the same ting happened. It seems like their is way to much voltage getting to the clock whats wrong?

Also the gas gauge doesnt work, there is a wire hanging down from the gas tank that looks like its been cut (not by a knife or scissors). where should the wire connect?

Has nothing to do with voltage. Do a search, either keep correcting the time and it will slow down or some have a adjustment on the back of the clock to do it manually.

Also the gas gauge doesnt work, there is a wire hanging down from the gas tank that looks like its been cut (not by a knife or scissors). where should the wire connect? If is black it goes to a clean bare metal ground. gauge won't work without it.

The wire hanging from the gas tank was black. I connected it to a ground and now the gauge works. The clock still doesnt work. Is the clock supposed to be hooked-up to 12 volts?
