I have a 50,000mi. used crate 350. I travel alot, about 10 mo. a year. I have some bugs to work out every time I come home. Now My cars gas mileage went down 3-4 m.p.g. requiring a little more throttle to achieve acceleration. It also had a flat spot going from light to moderate throttle. And once I heard an evil backfire from the carb. It always ran so great. I put a vacuum gauge on her and read 0 on the small 1/8in ports on an edelbrock 650 at idle. Reving showed about 15. Pulling the PCV and putting my finger on it showed great vacuum. I new the carb was dirty or jelled inside so I just bought a new one and installed it yesterday. I'm sure i could have cleaned the old one but no time and moderate experience now. The car runs much better with the new carb Vacuum back at 20-21in at 750, no backfires, better low end but still a flat spot. Driving on the freeway with No gas pedal change at all, and it starts to climb a little hill after a split second of load change, bam feels like ignition cuts out instintaniously for a duration of how long it takes to say dit. After giving the slightest amount of gas or just maintaining the same it's gone until this minimal load going moderate happens again. It does seem to run a tiny bit worse cold (50' outside) than before at this temp. I reset timing to previously proved 8'BTC@idle. Both advances operating the same. I don't know if it's related but a tiny bit of oil coming from around the four center intake manifold bolts. Also new problem. Have new gaskets but would like to do this one at a time. I know this is very long but trying to give all ther clues. Doug
