Just got my 1972 Chevelle last Saturday. I have noticed that when I move the Automatic Transmission floor shifter from Park to Reverse, the backup lights flicker but do not stay on. However, if I move the shifter from neutral to reverse they come on and stay on.

How do I fix this situation?

You need to adjust the back up lamp switch or the linkage. The switch should be inside the floor shifter.
