I was talking on the phone with a fellow today that I am going to send the hood lowvers off my 69 to to be rechromed. He was asking if I knew of anyone that had a 67 big block hood for sale. I asked him why not go for an aftermarket hood, and he said they are junk. I told him that I had heard of guys here that had bought aftermarket hoods and there was obviously some to stay away from, and some that it seemed guys were really happy with. So folks, seeings how we can not use the search feature for a few more days, can anyone tell me who makes the best one? He was much more concerned with quality than he was about cost. Thanks guys!

I bought a "gauranteed to fit" 67 SS repo hood and it fits bad. It bows up along the fender line. I have it 3/8" to low at the cowl and correct at the front. You can see my valve covers with the hood SHUT!!
I called the suppler (A-----S Chevelle parts)and they hadn't heard of anyone having problems. Of course I did a frame off on my car and painted the parts separatly so I didn't know until final assembly.
I showed the car and got a 1st place my first show but the hood was up. When I closed it I was ashamed and hurried out.
They said they would refund my money but the check never showed. They don't even list them in their catologs anymore ........... I'll quit whinning but I would get a gaurantee in writing before I bought one.

I put one on my El Camino. The fit was not bad. After installing the new hood springs (the standard hood springs were weak)I noticed a bow along the fenderline. This leads me to believe that metal my be thinner causing a bit of a bow along this edge. I was told when I purchased the hood (about a year ago)that this was out of new tooling and the parts supplier spent about an hour with me fitting the hood. You have to remember that cars of that era were slapped together and do not have the fit and finish of todays cars. It takes alot of work to achieve any perfect fit on these cars as you may already know.
