Ok so my question is i want to put a cowl induction fiberglass scoop on my stock 69 malibu hood. I have 3 reasons for this...
1.I think they look cool
2.I could use some air cleaner space
3.I would like to make it somewhat functional

My main question is how can i cut the hood ? Or better yet as far as the
structure of the hood what can i cut oyt and keep it strong?
I really want to try to make a plate for my air cleaner so when i shut the
hood it seals up and i have a working cowl induction any suggestions?

Thanks in advance...

You should be able to cut a circle out of the middle as I did on my '70 without
reducing the strength of the hood

I cut mine then used 1/8x1" metal to reinforce the hole.
I welded the 1x to the top and bottom then filled and finished.
It made it very strong and keeeps the hood from twisting it also looks alot better finished.

Nice job guys i like both ideas. I appreciate the responces.
looks like you both did a nice job.
It almost looked to me like the 70 hood had a little area to cut out
vs the 69 hood the support X is all thats in there although i could
be wrong.
Anyways i have so good ideas now thanks guys!
