I put three coats of acryllic Enamel (Dupont) on my rear deck extension last night. The first two coats looked great. The last coat fish eyed pretty bad. What the HE double hockey sticks happened?

I allowed 6 min. in between medium coats for flash. Themperature was 72 deg.
Oil and water filters in air supply and hose only used for painting.

This was a previously painted and waxed surface.
I blocked it off with 800 and used Final Clean to remove anything left. Tacked it off and shot the first tack coat that I did not put on heavy enough to allow it to flow. Waited 6 min and did that again. Waited another 6 and shot a finish coat that I allowed to flow out. Fish-eyes showed up almost immmediatly.
I'm confused. Or cursed.

Any ideas?

I think you encountered an airborn contaminant, the air picked up some contaminants and they settled on the surface between coats. This could be caused by many things.

I just realised that it could have been something else. The surface I painted was clear coated with urethane clear. I know I did not block it all off.
Should I have primered first? Could the enamel not like the clearcoat?

The Enamel will go over it no problem, badbob is right. If you ever used any kind of silicone cleaners in the garage or on the car it's almost impossible to get rid of.Could add some fish eye preventer to your enamel. When you first mix it mix enough to do the whole job, it must have the same amount in it for every coat.
