What do you guys recommend for use on a black vinyl top? I bought a 72 Malibu with a black vinyl top, and it is in very good shape, it just looks a little dull and "chalky". I'd like to see it look clean and somewhat shiny, but I don't want to have quite the shine that Armor All leaves. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I'd go at it with a good citrus cleaner and a stiff brush first, this will help get into all the crevices. You may have to do it 2 or 3 times, then see what you have when it's completely clean.

I have a black vinyl top on my 70 Elky and used Meguiars Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner followed by occaisonal care with Meguiars Vinyl Cleaner and conditioner. You can get it from your local auto parts store or go to www.Meguiars.com. (http://www.Meguiars.com.) I swear by their stuff.

I use a product made by Castle corp. call NV Vinyl.
It is absolutly the best stuff I've ever used on vinyl tops. It looks like armor all but dries complety and last for months.
Most guys here say they cannot get or have never heard of Castle Products. There is a distribution center here in Statesville that I get their products from. They make all kind of automotive paints and glass cleaners etc. Their "dull aluminum" paint is a dead ringer for the argent silver used by the General for rally wheels and such. Quality stuff!
I can send you a bottle if you would like to try it.

I had the same question recently. I called Meguiar's and they recommended their #40 Professional Vinyl&Rubber protectant, and can be bought at your local NAPA store.Advance or Autozone will not have this product.
Tried it today and I really am pleased with the results.
