: 396 oil filter

Could someone tell me what oil filter I would need for a 396. The one I have on there now is a real weird brand name and I wanted to change it to a Fram or a better brand of filter.

i would avoid Fram filters at all costs. I have read too many reports of them not catching dirt or particles. A friend of mine had his 69 Hemi Charger engine bearings destroyed cause the FRAM filter did not catch a sliver of metal. For some reason PF-25 rings a bell but I might be wrong.

The AC/Delco filters that you can use are:

PF25 New Number is: PF454
PF35 New number is: PF1218

The PF25 is the short filter.
The PF35 is the long filter. It's about twice the size of a PF25 (more capacity).

i run a k&n gold cross referenced with a fram ph30 its a the full quart one( little spendy but keeps good oil pressure)!
