I posted a question about three weeks ago the post was about my carburetor flooding my engine suddenly after running fine for about a year. I replaced it with a new edlebrock 600 cfm performer which is the same thing that was on there before and a new fuel filter just one of the normal metal ones. With this new carb it ran good for about 3 weeks and now it is doing the same thing but this time it is just bogging down really bad it has not died yet like it did the last time though. I pulled the top off the carb and it has some grit in it as did the old one it might be little granules of rust or dirt. I was wondering if it can be coming from the gas tank could the gas tank be breaking apart internally. if this is the case what can I do can it be cleaned and recoated with something internally if so what can it be coated with or will I have to get a new one please help me.

Check your fuel tank, could be rusted. This happened with my son's truck. The sock on the pick up in the tank could be clogged also. Check them both.

Good Luck :D

If it is rusted do I have to get a new tank or is there some sort of coating or something that I can use that will fix it the tanks are like $180.

It's probably not worth the effort to not replace it...I got one for my 68 from a guy in Chicago and it was ony 135 bucks...I think I spent another 40 for a new stainless line........good luck...
