My 69 Elky has a real bad case of floor rust right behind the seat( bad? the floor is completely rusted through with a piece of plywood holding up the carpet). Problem is, none of the shops near me (Livermore area) want to do the work. It seems they make more money with insurance jobs. The other few have not had experience with replacing floor pans. Any Nor Cal CTers have anyone they could recommend to do the job. Otherwise I might just sell it! Getting disgusted, you know! Thanks, Scott! :(

The only place that I know of that may want to do this is K&J's in Oakland. Their number is 510-430-0856. I have not personally seen thier work but my brothers brother-in-law has just had them do one of his vintage Mustangs and is very happy with it. The amazing part is it only took about three weeks!!!! That is just about unheard of for a complete "cosmetic" restoration.
Give them a call

No, I'm not him, but he has done work on my el Camino! Do you live off of El Suyo or Ensenada Dr? I've seen an early Elky there where a guy has a couple of hot rods!Scott!

I'm also doing the floor pans in our '69 el Camino. I'm thinking that I have the wrong pans. They are full length pieces that meet down the centre line. I'm thinking that they sold me the wrong ones, perhaps '68-'72 coupe pans. The flange across the back goes straight across while the originals are curved at the outside corners like the earlier pans. I have found listings showing the el Caminos using the '64-'67 pans for all years of el Caminos while other parts books are rather vague. Any information would be appreciated.
I've done the pans in a '72 Lemans. If you have a mig welder and take your time, the job isn't that difficult. I screwed everything down tight first then mig welded the pans down. Finally I removed the screws and migged the holes shut. Worked for me.

I did mine myself smile.gif How much rust are we talking about here? My passenger side was the real beast it went up the toe boards and almost in the firewall, It's 95% complete, what a pain! Maybe rent or borrow a MIG and do it at home?
