I'm in the process of getting ALL the parts together to put the original smog system back in my 68 SS-396 Chevelle. The parts that seem to be the most difficult to fine are the two smog pump mounting brackets. The problem I'm running into is this. Some of the used Chevelle parts dealers that might have the brackets, need the part numbers so they can check their stock and I can't find the part number for the main pump bracket anywhere. It's not in the assembly manual because it's part of the engine assembly. If someone has a book that shows the part number, I would sure appreciate it.
The part number I need is the smog pump to engine bracket for 68 BB Chevelle. Thanks, B.R.

My April 1983 Chevrolet books does not show a bracket for 1968 under group 3.655, it starts in 1969. However the pump is the same for all of 1968, 1969 Passenger, except Auto Trans. and all 1970 & 1971 as p/n 7806686.

There is only one bracket listed for 69 all the way up to 1975 as p/n 1401 5390.

Hope this helps.

I love to give home made gifts, which one of the kids would you like?

If you go to gm parts direct at http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results.cfm, they have the 14015390 bracket for just under 9 bucks.

That sounds right because the smaller adjuster bracket is in the aim and is listed as #3917230. Question: Where/how did you fine this number?

Jim, How did you find the bracket in Gm Parts direct? What did you dod to search the site? I'm wondering if it's the repro bracket. I can't find a picture of the repro, but I'm told it looks nothing like the original.
The 68 bracket is different than the 69 cause the 68's have the short water pump and left side alt. It's a totally different mounting system.
