I've had my pad for about 8 years now and unfortunately I've lost the glue card you send in when you're ready to put the pad on. I don't even remember where I bought it from it's been so long ago. Any recomendations on what to use and where I can get the glue to install this thing locally? Would a paint shop have something?

Any help is greatly appreciated as always!!

You can get the adhesive from "Proud Road" a company right here in my town. When i bought my bumper pad the card said to mail it to them but I just drove over there and picked it up smile.gif
Their # is 619-562-2860.

3M super weatherstrip adhesive in black (comes in yellow too but you might see it under the pad)and will hold up great. Plus, you can go get it right now. Just clamp it to the bumper for 24 hours. I know a few guys that have used it and the pad has been on their bumper with no lifting for years.

I had just done this on my 70 ss, and I lost the glue also, I purchased the glue from "proud road" , its based out of California. It sets up quick and you have one shot at getting it right!($25.00) or so if shipped. I am happy with the results

I also found my other glue which is the 3m weather strip adheasive, used it on other parts of the car and am very happy with it. You can get it at Auto Zone or Pep Boys for about $4.00. It comes in a red bottle.

The choice is yours, I think you will be happy with either product but make sure you scuff the underneath of the pad with a scotch bright and also the chrome area where the pad goes.

Good luck and may the steady hands prevail, also helps if someone helps you out!!

Thanks for the info guys, I appreciate it!!

I actually have a tube of the 3M stuff in the garage, so I'll use that. I had thought it might work, but it's nice to see that someone else has tried it first!!

Thanks also for the tips on scuffing the pad/bumper. The last thing I need is this pad flyin off when I'm goin down the road!!

I was just curious, has anyone tried to take off the rubber pad and reuse it? My old bumper's SS pad is still good but I want to take it off and reuse it after getting the bumper back from the bumper shope.

Any ideas?
Kent

Hi Kent:
I took my old bumper pad off by lightly heating the back side of the bumper with a propane torch until the pad peeled off. Start at one end and work your way along.
Good luck

I have reused my original pad. I don't know how the guy in the body shop took it off, but the glue he used didn't hold for a year.
At the suggestion of an expert, I used 3M Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment Tape. I understand this is the stuff that is used to put the trim on new vehicles now. I covered the back of the pad with tape, put it up against the bumper using masking tape to mark the location, pressed it down and presto, instant stick with no mess. The tape I used is black foam, .045" thick x 7/8" wide. Can hardly see that it's there. I followed the instructions using a cleaner and adhesion promoter.
