i am aquireing a new 350 for my sonoma, and was wandering if a 1pc rear seal flywheel will work on a 2pc rear seal?
i dont see why they wouldnt, they are both internal balance.
the engine it is coming off of it a 96 Vortec truck engine, and going on a pre 86 i belive, 350.
thanks

no! they have different mounting flanges. get the right flywheel or be sorry...
The crankshafts are different for a 1 piece and a 2 peice rear seal.

JEGS has new OEM flywheels for under $100 for a SBC. I think I recently paid $69 for one for an externally balanced 400.

thanks guys.
im going to get a new one.
im thinking of using the one i have for the velle, and buying a new one for that, since i need a new clutch anyways, might as well get a new flywheel.
what do you guys think about lightened flywheels?
oh and its a pre 86 350 im getting.

Aaron,
Just for educational purposes .... the one pc seal engines are externally balanced ... the flywheel has a weight on it. The reason for this is because in order to use the one pc seal, the back of the the crank is perfectly round. On the 2 pc seal 350's, the flange on the crank actually is part of the balance weight for the engine, so when they got rid of the flange, they had to put the weight on the flywheel.

AND, the bolt circle is smaller on the small-block one-piece-seal crankshaft.
