I have a 1970 chevelle that needs a paint job. In the interest of keeping as close to stock as possible I would like to know if all super sports in 70 came with stripes or were they an option like they were in some earlier years?

To my knowledge, yes, technically it was an option, but with the SS package, it was standard. The "option" part of it was the stripe delete option. In other words, you had to order it without stripes, not order it with.
