: Must be Spring..
John D Apr 4th, 06, 1:08 AM Just got the cr*p scared out of me... the "critters" are moving again.
Surfing around here and a BIG house spider descended right in front of my face between me and the screen... Didn't know the bugger was creeping around on the ceiling and zzzzzzzzzz HELLO!
Now I've got the "Crawlies".... what other friggin' little critter is gonna move around while I'm trying to sleep...? Yuck.
ZZ69chevelle Apr 4th, 06, 2:59 AM Spiders ain't so bad. It's been a while since I found any snakes in my house.
Chris R Apr 4th, 06, 3:22 AM Same thing happened to me about a week ago. Typing away on the computer and a spider literally dropped about 2 inches in front of my right eye. Scared the heck out of me.
What are those centepede things called that run around in the houses in the summer around here John? I have seen a few in our house but not one crawling on me. Its like I will be sitting in the family room watching TV, and something on the floor catches my eye. A little centepede like creepy, crawly, thing thats just freaky to see in your house.
rubadub Apr 4th, 06, 3:39 AM My father and mother in law, there about 80 years old. They go to florida for the winter, anyway there back in michigan, had been home a week or so.
The two of them are in the living room watching tv, he looks up at the ceiling, and theres a big snake inside the recessed flourescent light, he almost had the big one, anyway he shot it right through the light, I don't know what kind of a snake it was, but it must of rode all the way up from florida with them.

Ahh, that's one thing I don't miss about the mainland, snakes. We have a few here, they're on display at the zoo. ;) Grew up in Texas, snakes sightings were a weekly occurance in the warm months. My mom can tell when it's going to rain, due to the bite from a baby diamondback rattler while hangin' clothes on the line one summer day around 1980. She says her foot starts hurtin', then the rain starts.
We do have spiders and centipedes here, though. The centipedes like to sneak up on you. I just settled down with a beer in my chair one night on the beach. Just set both my lines, gonna be a good night of fishin', and I get this centipede start crawlin' up my leg. Scared the crap outta me, almost spilled my beer. He didn't last long. ;)
69boo307 Apr 4th, 06, 12:14 PM darn, I was hoping for a post, with pics, about the girls' short shorts coming out of the closet with the warm weather :D

J70Chev Apr 4th, 06, 12:39 PM Ran into 2 myself, on one the wall of my hallway, right after I killed him and flushed it... another big black one was movin across my carpet at the entry to my bedroom. I EFFING HATE SPIDERS!!! I was spooked to say the least
bisjoe Apr 4th, 06, 1:09 PM Spiders are at least quiet. My son complained the other day that every morning he's awakened by a bunch of noisy baby birds, soundin like they are in the ceiling above his bed. They are. I went out and a stupid starling has built a nest in the house, poked out the screen on a soffit vent.
deck6972 Apr 4th, 06, 1:26 PM I heard people swallow an average of 2 spiders per year while they sleep. Good night everyone.

Hmm, that's why I had a scratchy throat the other morning. Thanks for clearing that up! :D
Derek69SS Apr 4th, 06, 1:39 PM Clowns and Spiders - the only 2 things that really scare the crap out of me, both due to seeing movies at a young, impressionable age. ( "It" and "Arachnaphobia" )
John_Muha Apr 4th, 06, 2:30 PM 'bout time for some little rats to show up. Just ordered a new laser sight for the pellet rifle.

I've got my pellet rifle sighted in at about 20'. Can nail anything that moves from across the garage. ;) If you're going after rats, go at night with a flashlight. 90% of the time, they'll be hiding behind something, and will freeze for about 3 seconds, staring into the light. The brighter the light, the longer they'll stare. Head shots are great, but body shots will do the trick. :D

Beat me to it. :waving:
We have a lot of wolf spiders around here.
They are hunters at night and get about the size of a 50 cent piece.
Buggers are aggresive and will run AT you!
I used to catch flies and throw them in their web when I was a kid.
They run out so fast and grab the fly, it always amazed me.
Had a big garden snake living in my apple tree last summer.
I think he was eating the ants that were hollowing it out.
I pretended not to see him and he pretended not to see me.
Mutual understanding.
John D Apr 4th, 06, 6:37 PM The next d*mn thing will be the "zillion leggers".... Those brown things about an inch long that zip across the room at 200 MPH.
(Guess I'm lucky, the pooch thinks they're "doggie treats" and STOMPS 'em)
1971 Chevelle Apr 4th, 06, 6:38 PM Spring, I wish. Its snowing here.

I totally remember that post and what an insane sight that was.
Lou Merrell Apr 6th, 06, 5:05 AM AHH yes, Spring........
So far I've caught 2 opposums, and one racoon living under the lower deck. Took the opposums to the park and let them go, let the 'coon go back under the deck, I like 'coons. So far we have as permanent residence racoons and a big groundhog (Woody) living under the deck. They share the same entrance hole, which I think is kinda' cool.
My dog, Max (130 lb. rott/lab mix) does'nt mind the 'coons and groundhogs either but when there is opossums he starts to dig at the wood. Something about those ugly, oversize rats that he does'nt like.
