Not a real good reference in the manual, basically there is a hole in the inner structure it should line up with. Here is a pic of mine I believe is original http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/showphoto.php?photo=5576&cat=500

That looks too close to me too. I've got an original fender off the car with the antenna off. I'll try to get a pic of it tonight.

Fenders are original GM's, antenna is a new part from one of the common resto places, forget which.

Mike,
It appears to me that mine is a lot like yours but jtm60's seems to be further from the outer edge. jtm60, Where was your car built?
My other 69 is a Kansas car but it's a rear antenna car.

There is quite a bit of difference,, this car has the original hole in it with the slot and looks the same as troopers, not surprised. Thanx to all !!

I may have confused things here a bit...my car is baltimore built 69.

I said original gm fenders...not 100% sure of that the more I think about it-they sure look original on the insides, but..I think previous owner might have mentioned to me that fenders were replaced at some point with 'new' GM parts-no idea of when..so my fenders may not be truly original to the car. sorry if i confused anyone.
