I am trying to move my mechanical tempature sensor from the head up to my intake manifold. The problem is that there is not enough clearance between the bottom of my radiator hose and the top of the sensor wire. The waterneck is just a standard 45 degree neck. Do the swivial neck ones work? If so do they move freely or is there some kind of rachet mechinism that keeps them at a given angle.
Thanks for the help.
ALSO...does anyone know of a clip that connects to the valve cover that I can attach the sensor wire to so that it does not just lay across the manifold?

Wow, I see what you mean.....I don't suppose there would be another NPT location in the rear of the manifold? I know some intakes have NPT locations in the rear also.
Nope, I wish there was. I picked up an aluminum swival waterneck from Jeg's for $15 and will see if that does the trick. I can't imagine no one else has run into this problem though. Ahhh the joys of hot rodding :)

Just saw this post.
Actually had the same situation, I installed the taller swival waterneck and problem solved. No leaks either. The neck I have has the Allen type head on it, so for my alternator bracket I had to use a bolt with the head cut off and a nut for the alternator bracket. This is for a 70, so your application may be different.

I just ran into this last night after installing my new mech gauges. let us know how that neck works.
I just did a test fit and that water neck will most definately bring the water hose high enough to get around the sensor. Now the problem is with the Rad hose. The steeper angle on the waterneck creates a kink in the hose when it connects. Possibly rotating the hose around may fix it or I am going to have to find another one that fits. If that fails I will just have to suck it up and buy one of those fancy flex ones.
