I have a 400 with a truck output shaft, I bought a caddy yoke 6" long w/4" of spline.
Naturally the yoke wont go all the way into the trans as it stops at the "O" ring lip.
I have cut the yoke down to the start of the splines (2"), but I still ant get the u joint togeather at the rearend.

That leaves me with a 4" yoke and to make it work I need to cut it another 3/4", that will only leave 3-1/4" .

So if I cut it to fit, I will only have about 2" of yoke inside the tailshaft bushing, and 2-3/4 of spline inside the yoke, is that enough?
Doesnt seem good to me?
What is the "BEST" way to solve this problem?
New yoke or new shaft or will this be OK?
Thanks T.C.

I was told to push the yoke in all the way and then back it out 1" That is how much should be inside the trans

Thanks for the reply, when I do that it bottoms out on the "O" ring land on the output shaft.
It's a truck output shaft so it is different from a stock 400 shaft.

does it have a big hole in the middle of it? if so, that hole needs to be plugged up otherwise trans fluid will leak right out.
